Chapter 1.The beginning
I’ve decided that the time has come to speak out and tell everything that happened to me all those years ago. The full account of this story you can find in my dedicated blog here. I’ll be publishing my story in stages and I’ve also got some drawings to add when I work out how to do that.
I hope the story is entertaining, but my main aim is to make a contribution to science. For several years now I have seen papers being written and lectures being given that deal with the subject I am going to write about. At first I kept quiet about all the mistakes I could see being made, but now the time has come to speak out. However, I don’t want to say that everybody else is completely wrong. I hope in this blog that as well as pointing out mistakes I can help to confirm ideas that are right.
My subject is alien abduction. Many distinguished scientists and writers have written about this in recent years, and I believe I can also make a major contribution. Why I think this is simply because I write from extensive personal experience. But although my blog is mainly a work of science (as it deals with scientific fact), I am convinced that the best way to pass on my knowledge is by telling the story in a straightforward and honest way.
But enough in the way of introduction. Best to get on with my true account of events that took place beginning in January 1987.
At the time I was living in a bedsit in Eglantine Avenue, an avenue near central Belfast. I was twenty years old and although my long-term ambition was to be a scientist, I was temporarily working as a milkman, with my round in a nearby part of the city. My routine consisted of rising very early in the morning, making my way to the headquarters of McLenahans the Milk People, boarding my milk float and then setting off to do the deliveries. In the morning of Tuesday, January 16, 1987, everything started off as normal. I had my usual breakfast of two slices of toast with a generous helping of butter and marmalade and a large mug of black coffee. I then left for work.
It was a thoroughly miserable morning as I set off in my float from McLenahans at 5.00am. There was a light drizzle accompanied by a cold mist. An air of melancholy hung over the city. At 5.45am exactly I was driving down Primitive Street in Sandy Row, about halfway through my round. At this stage I knew the orders like the back of my hand. Take the bottom half of Primitive Street: No 5: two silver tops and an orange, No 9: one silver top and a skimmed, No 11: two semis, a skimmed and once a week 6 low fat yoghurts. I had just finished the delivery to No 6 and was putting my crate back in the float when I saw something out of the ordinary. There a bright light in the sky over to my right. At first I though nothing of it, given the fact that in 1987, security helicopters constantly hovered over Belfast, keeping a watchful eye on the population. I got into my float with the full intention of continuing with my round. I was anxious to get home as quickly as possible, given the unpleasant weather. Also, I was going to my physics class at the Tech that night and wanted to do some studying and maybe even have a quick nap before the evening. No sooner had I started up than I again saw the same light, this time maybe 100 yards directly ahead, and about 60 feet in the air. I was now a bit scared, and became even more so when my engine suddenly shuddered to a halt.
From then on the exact details in my memory are unclear. I remember being surrounded by a sheet of white light, I also remember a high-pitched sound, but after that I am not sure what happened. I must have passed out, and my next memory is of waking up in a very strange place. But before leaving this part of the story, in the interests of scientific accuracy I must record what may be significant details about the light that surrounded me just before my abduction. The light was intense but had two strange things about it. First, it had the appearance of a semi-solid entity (this is the best way I can put it, the light seemed to have substance in three dimensions) and second, it caused no pain to the eyes, such as causes squinting. I leave these points for more highly trained scientists to ponder.
When I woke up my circumstances were very different. The experience that I must now describe has been so often dealt with in other books, the story has been so often told that I feel going over it again will be boring. For a detailed description of the scene I refer readers to the many classic accounts, and I can tell you that these are mostly accurate. But classic accounts of what? The scene is the well-documented one of abduction by the species of aliens known as “Greys” or “little Greys” (for reasons that will be made clear later I refer to them as “Greys”, regarding the “little” as inappropriate). I shall try to focus on those details of the scene that in my opinion need correction (if wrong) or reinforcement (if correct).
Chapter 2.The examination
I opened my eyes and, although groggy, attempted to take in my surroundings. I realised that I was lying on a couch or bed, but did not immediately realise that I was tied down. The straps had been tied on, with a touch I later learned was typical of the Greys, so as not to cause pain and I did not at first notice that they were there. I thought it best not to make any sudden movements, but tried to see where I was by slowly moving my head from side to side.
I was in the centre of a dimly-lit room, the ceiling of which sloped upwards from left to right and was slightly curved. The room was lit by yellowish strip-lighting and, listening carefully, in the background I heard a quiet hum. I was cautiously trying to take in more when I heard a metallic voice: “Do not be afraid. We mean you no harm. These experiments are for the good of all species”. If this was meant to make me feel better it didn’t work. At this point I must interrupt the story to correct a common mistake about the Greys. This is that they communicate with humans by using telepathy. This mistake has come about from stories told by abductees of experiences like my own, where the voice of a Grey is apparently heard inside the abductee’s head. The mistake, however, is an easy one to make, and is due to two things. First, the peculiar acoustic properties of the typical Grey spaceship and second, the alien who gives the orders is usually somewhere behind the abductee, which helps to create the “this voice is inside my head” effect.
The rest of the scene continued as described in other books, and I have nothing to add to the usual round of DNA sampling and blood tests, except to say that the pain caused was almost completely mental. There was little physical discomfort. Two things have stuck in my mind. Of course, that this was my first encounter with a Grey and, the eeriness of the occasion (never quite matched despite the many strange and wonderful experiences I had later).
I must comment here on the physical appearance of the Greys. In general they are as usually depicted. A common height (but note this is not an average) is about 5 feet, with the roughly triangular head large, domed and without ears. The eyes are very large. The speculation that the black and shiny appearance of the eyes is due to a lens covering is correct, as I later discovered. The legs are short and appear weak and spindly, while the arms are long (they almost reach down to the knee) and appear strong. There is a suggestion of nostrils and the mouth is small, thin and lipless. The neck is short and thin and appears incapable of supporting the very large skull. The skin is usually the colour from which the species takes its name, though other shades are common, light tan, for example. The skin is smooth, hairless and cold to the touch. The feet are small but the hands are large. The hands and feet each have four digits. It is hard to avoid an over riding impression of the reptilian when confronted with this sinister-looking species.
Imagine being tied down to a couch in a room lit by a flickering yellowish light. There is silence except for a low background hum. A Dr Grey is ready to start work on you; he begins work swiftly and with purpose, the large fly-like eyes express no emotion, the movements of the long and powerful arms are vigorous. The delicate hands set to with gleaming medical instruments, probe-like and scalpel-like. This was the horrific scenario in which I now found myself.
I then either lost consciousness, or the Greys put me to sleep. When I woke up I was alone and once more had my wits completely about me. Instinctively I sat up. No straps. I felt refreshed and must have slept deeply, but had no idea for how long. I looked around the room. I was sitting on a couch similar to a doctor’s couch on earth, in a room without furniture apart from a large built-in cabinet on one wall. The floor was tiled in long strips of a material that looked like black granite. I sat for a few minutes, trying to adjust to my situation. I felt strange, as if I was an observer of my own actions. There was a body here, but it was not mine; there were thoughts in my head, but they were not mine. A classic scenario of disorientation.
A Grey came into the room. It might have been Dr Grey; it might have been Metallic Voice. The Grey said, “Will you please follow me”. There was something attractive about his voice, which was soft and clear. Maybe the metallic voice thing was a fake. I followed the Grey out of the room and we walked in silence down a corridor, which curved slightly to the left. We stopped at a door about 20 yards further along on the right. The Grey raised his left hand, and with a gesture of spidery digits (I won’t say fingers as the Greys do not have thumbs) invited me to go in first. At the same time he said, “You will live in the room designed for human use”. I felt a little scared at the word “live”. Were they planning to keep me here forever? But there was plenty of time to worry about that later. I pressed a button in the wall, the door opened and we entered the room designed for human use.

Hello, Barry
That’s what I found:
52 Indicators Of Encounters Or Abductions By Aliens
Many millions of people, it seems, have had encounters with alien beings. Many of those people do not realize that they are having these experiences because of suppressed memories. Their awareness is limited to an occasional paranormal incident that seems to confuse them more than anything else. Some people are not ready to know for sure, others feel a deep need to know if they are involved with the beings. If you are in the later group, read on.
This is a list of 52 common indicators shared by most UFO abductees. It is based on known research on the subject and on personal findings. It has been compiled to help you determine if you are an abductee. Of course there may be other explanations for these occurrences and this is in no way an absolute means of knowing if you are an abductee. If you or someone you know does fit many of these traits listed here, PLEASE seek the help of a qualified researcher of therapist. This list is not in any particular order.
Ask yourself if you . . .
1.Have had missing or lost time of any length, especially one hour or more.
2.Have been paralyzed in bed with a being in your room.
